About me

I am Philip - coach, sport scientist, and someone who truly lives sport. Whether during triathlon training, on a bikepacking tour through the mountains, or while whitewater kayaking, movement is not just a hobby for me but a central part of my life.

In my research as a sport scientist, I focus on fatigue and the use of modern wearables in endurance training, for example to measure muscle oxygen saturation. I combine this scientific perspective with many years of practical coaching experience.

Already at the age of 14, I started working as a swim coach. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work with athletes in very different areas: from children’s swimming lessons to junior and professional triathlon, as well as working as a kayak guide.

This diversity strongly shapes my work – and it is exactly what I bring into my coaching.

My Philosophy

Sport should first and foremost be enjoyable. I enjoy working with ambitious athletes and optimizing the final details to achieve the best possible performance — but this is not a requirement for the athletes I work with. If you enjoy what you do — regardless of your athletic goals — personal success will naturally follow.

That is why I work with athletes who have very different goals. Every situation requires an individual approach, and this is exactly the experience I bring to my coaching.

Scientific Work

As a PhD student in sport science at the University of Rome “Foro Italico”, I specialize in endurance sports, exercise physiology, and performance diagnostics.

Through several of my own research projects, a research internship with Prof. Stephen Seiler - one of the leading experts in endurance training - and additional international collaborations, I have built a strong professional network.

My work focuses on developing new methods in diagnostics, training monitoring, and training methodology. Translating scientific findings into practical coaching is particularly important to me.
